Amy Childs Is A Big Topshop Shoes Fan

  • Posted on October 28, 2011 at 5:08 am

Amy Childs, the former star of The Only Way Is Essex, is really a big fan of Topshop Shoes. However, she always wear her black Topshop boots on the wrong feet. This time the 21-year-old star finally wore her black shoes on the correct feet when she appeared at an event in London.

Amy hit the launch party for a new video game called Get Up And Dance held at Decadia at The London Pavillion in central London. Wearing a matching black top and legging set, with odd squiggly leather patches all over them, the reality star appeared to have finally worked out the right way to put her boots on.

As she posed for pictures on her way into the event, it was clear that the zips on her boots were facing the right way… that is, on the outside of the boot, and not the inside. And she used her Twitter account to let her followers though that she is well aware of what feet her boots should go on, despite photographic evidence to the contrary.

She tweeted: ‘The daily mail is saying i was wearing shoes on the wrong feet , I no I’m blonde but blimey I no what way my shoes go on xxxx’

The boots Amy was wearing, which are from Topshop, are designed with the zip on the outside of the foot. Miss Childs wore hers with the zips on the inside, meaning that they were clearly the wrong way round.

Tottering about an Essex garden centre with a camera crew capturing her every move, one hopes that Amy didn’t trip over an errant plant pot. The reality star at least looked stylish otherwise, with her long legs – looking more slender than ever since her time on Celebrity Big Brother- showcased in black leggings. Amy completed her outfit with a long leopard print Yumi top and sunglasses.

This isn’t the first time Amy has worn this pair of Topshop boots on the wrong feet. The redhead made the same mistake – also while filming for It’s All About Amy – while filming in Brentwood at the beginning of the month. On that occasion she teamed her flexible footwear with a short beige dress.

Rich Girl Tamara’s Wonderful Wardrobe

  • Posted on October 26, 2011 at 10:27 pm

Tamara, 27, describes herself as a model and television presenter. However, it would appear her true calling is spending money. As the daughter of the £2.5billion fortune Formula One supremo father Bernie, she has a wonderful wardrobe most girls dream of. With 100 pairs of Christian Louboutin heels, 15 pairs of Ugg boots, 20 pairs of trainers and a smattering of Ginas and Jimmy Choos, she gives us a sneak peek into her wardrobe.

Opening the door to her walk-in wardrobe, Tamara explained that – as well as a shoe collection to rival Imelda Marcos – she owns countless designer bags, dresses worth £1,000 that she doesn’t even like and ‘usually only wears clothes once.’ So what else could you get for the woman who has everything, including a chihuahua called Duke? Judging by her shoe collection, restraint would be a good gift – if only money could buy it.

Working on the basis that the average price of a pair of Christian Louboutin heels is £600 and she has 100 pairs, that’s already £60,000 she’s splashed out. A pair of Ugg boots, on average, would set you back £170. Tamara has 15 pairs, meaning a further outlay of £2,550. And despite claiming she never exercises, her 20 pairs of trainers – assuming a comparatively modest price tag of £75 each – would have set her back £1,500.

Of course, these are merely the shoes she mentions in her interview with Closer magazine. Tamara has previously spoken of owning more than 50 pairs of pumps that, let’s face it, probably aren’t going to come from Primark.

There are also other labels clearly visible in her dressing room, including several pairs of Gina heels beloved by celebrities such as Nigella Lawson and Anna Friel, which typically cost around £475 per pair. The strappy Charlotte Olympia platforms visible on one of her shelves would set her back upwards of £500.

But before you start thinking this is a woman with no depth, Tamara reveals her interests go much further than shoes.

‘There are also 20 odd Hermes Birkin bags,’ she said. ‘But, to be honest, I’ve lost count.’ With these bags starting at £5,000, this puts a value of at least £100,000 on her collection. I can also spy at least five Alexander McQueen clutch bags on display, which start at £845. All these wares are housed in the dressing room Tamara is ‘embarrassed to say’ used to be a spare bedroom in her Chelsea pad. So embarrassed, it seems, she’s given several magazines tours of it.

As well as the shoes and handbags, of course, there are the clothes. Her collection has been estimated to be worth £1million, and some of Tamara’s purchases still have tags on, suggesting they have never been worn.

She added: ‘People think I’m a spoilt rich girl, but I want to demonstrate that I’m more than just the daughter of someone famous.’ Of course, she spends much money on luxuries too.

Jimmy Choo High Heels and Jimmy Choo Coffee Table Book

  • Posted on October 21, 2011 at 2:39 am

It seems that no women on the earth can refuse the allure of Jimmy Choo shoes. Women cannot live without high heels, jewelries, perfumes and fashion dresses, and Jimmy Choo successfully makes itself a world-famous name in fashion industry within a short span of 15 years. And this year, as the firm celebrates 15 years at the top of its game, the firm is set to publish a glossy coffee table book charting the journey to success.

Jimmy Choo XV, released to coincide with the firm’s anniversary, goes back to the brand’s roots to tell the story of Jimmy Choo’s propulsion from the workshop of a niche cobbler to world domination, taking in all glitz and glamour on the way.

‘Once upon a time there was a shoemaker working in the East End of London,’ goes the foreword, penned by Colin McDowell. ‘In the West End of London was a beautiful and clever young woman who specialised in accessories – and especially shoes – in her work for a very famous and glamorous magazine. he shoemaker was Jimmy Choo; the beautiful and clever young woman is Tamara Mellon; the magazine, British Vogue. The rest is, as they say, history.’

Jimmy Choo CEO Tamara Mellon OBE writes colourfully in the preface of her love for the brand she nurtured after purchasing the business from talented cobbler Choo.

She says, ‘My ambition for Jimmy Choo when I created this company was always to capture the hearts of women around the world and build it into an enduring world-class luxury brand that would inspire women everywhere. When I think of the icons that have inspired me throughout my life, they are often women. Powerful, glamorous, confident women. Cinematic and music icons such as Catherine Deneuve, Anouk Aimée, and Debbie Harry are among the many muses I have in my imagination when I am creating my collections for Jimmy Choo. These iconic beauties hold an allure that is as much about their external style as their innate sense of self-confidence.

‘I look to modern icons as well, and in business, I think of iconic women such as Michelle Obama, Diane von Furstenberg, Tory Burch, and Natalie Massenet, whose ingenuity, cleverness, and sense of humour set them apart as role models for me and for my daughter’s generation. The icons that I set out to highlight in this book take their cue from the women that inspire me in my life, but they are the shoes themselves.’

‘Around the office, we refer to the shoe styles as ‘She,’ endowing them with a personality, life, and story all their own. “Glenys” is attending an art opening before she hops the Eurostar back to London. “Macy” is headed into hair and makeup before she hits the step and repeat.

‘”Fleur” has a board meeting this morning followed by lunch with her banker. Amongst the thousands of shoes that have been created, each has her own story. When they are launched into the world, the women that wear the shoes add their own stories.

To Be A Taller Man – Men’s High Heels

  • Posted on October 18, 2011 at 1:59 am

Men are more eager than women to be taller. Mark Cramer, left, and Coy Barton, right, choose to wear high heels to add them several inches. They find the conventional offerings for men so dull. Far from drag, men are choosing heels for the same reason as women – to feel good.

To the possible chagrin of some more traditional males, those with a fashionable eye and an eccentric sensibility are taking the women’s power dressing weapon of choice and making it their own. And the resulting looks are far from the Priscilla Queen of the Desert-esque drag styles that are so often associated with men in heels.

Luke Nero, a promoter at Mr Black club in LA, told the New York Times: ‘I went to a loft party yesterday, and there was a guy in normal shorts, normal tank and really hot red pumps. That’s it! Everyone was like, “Oh my God, I love those shoes!”‘

At the club, Coy Barton, 24, and Mark Cramer, 25, paired their black heels with relatively conservative trousers and shirts. Mr Barton said to the paper: ‘I’m in Steve Madden, he’s in Chinese Laundry… These were $115. Mine were, like, $170.’

It’s not the first time the fashion has rolled around – the Seventies saw many a platform shoe with chunky high heel attached adorn the feet of men – a style immortalised by the likes of John Travolta’s Tony Manero in Saturday night Fever.

Louis XIV, in his inimitable ostentatious bent, is said to have worn four-inch heels made by Nicholas Lestage in the 1660s, his exquisite designs hailed a ‘miracle’ at the time.

While it is no secret that the vertically challenged are prone to the odd heel boost – perhaps most famously (and continuing in the French vein) à la Nicolas Sarkozy and, of course, Tom Cruise – these heels are altogether more brazen.

Is It True that Christian Louboutin Is the First to Invent Red Sole?

  • Posted on September 28, 2011 at 9:32 pm

Christian Louboutin sues Yves Saint Laurent for using his trademark – red soles – for shoes. But can the designer prove he was the first to use red soles for shoes? Yves Saint Laurent is sure red soles have existed for centuries.

We all know that shoes with red soles are Louboutin’s, but can Christian Louboutin be the first who has applied red color to soles? Maybe. And maybe not.

We might have never raised this question unless Yves Saint Laurent brand has used red soles for his shoes in one of the recent collections. He did, and Christian Louboutin sued the company for $1million shortly after that claiming he had an exclusive right to use red color for shoe soles. Yves Saint Laurent hit back at Louboutin saying he used the color long before the shoemaker registered his trademark. Moreover, the representative of YSL is sure the design has existed for centuries.

He said:
Red outsoles are a commonly used ornamental design feature in footwear, dating as far back as the red shoes worn by King Louis XIV in the 1600s and the ruby red shoes that carried Dorothy home in The Wizard of Oz.”

He continued:
As an industry leader who has devoted his entire professional life to women’s footwear, Mr. Louboutin either knew or should have known about some or all of the dozens of footwear models that rendered his sworn statement false.”

Carmen Steffens France added:
The tones are not the same, and, as catalogues dating from 1996 can prove, Carmen Steffens shoes contain soles of all colors, including red.”

No one knows now who will win the case but maybe it’s kind of silly requiring that nobody used a certain color because it is a signature feature of your brand. Color cannot be a trademark; it’s not a design which one has created. It’s universal and can be used by everyone.
