The Fashion Season Daring You to Color

  • Posted on September 21, 2011 at 9:14 pm

In case you are a fashion conscious person most probably you know that every season comes with new color trends, and in case you would like to keep up with the trend, you should know more about them. It looks like the color trend for fall is really daring and it takes some courage to pull of these colors.

Red
If we are talking about red in this season, you don’t have to be thinking about those mild and ‘coward’ reds. The red should be as red as it can be, cheerful and sparkling, such as oxblood red. In order to be able to pull off the color, you should consider the simple silhouettes to make the color less screaming.

Yellow
Although it is known that mustard yellow is a major trend in fall, now we are talking about lemon yellow. In spring the pale yellow has been a major trend, but now we have to be looking for strong and bright lemon yellows.

Champagne
Even though we might have gotten used to the strong and bold colors, there are also some color trends that are suitable for those people that don’t want to stand out in the crowd that much. You can find the glittery nudes and also the matte nudes on the runways.

Grey
This is a classic color for fall, and so it is no surprise that the designers opted for this color this fall as well. In case the color is used in the right way it can offer an extremely modern look that is hard to top.

Marigold
Mustard yellow has been mentioned before, and this is something like it. This is one of those colors that came right off the red carpet. Most probably you still remember the gown of Michelle Williams. There are no boundaries for this color; you can have any piece of clothing of this color.

Green
We’re not talking about just any green, but bottle green. Usually this color reminds people of the military style, but remembers that the dresses and outfits of this color could also be very elegant. Also this is one of those colors that you could wear from head to toe.

Plum
Actually there are several different names for the same color, like eggplant or grape, but they all refer to the same rich color of purple that seems to be one of the star colors of this fall.

Dressing for the Workplace with Silk Scarves

  • Posted on September 21, 2011 at 12:23 am

Dressing for the workplace requires a delicate balancing act. At the same time as ensuring that your outfit portrays you as a smart, professional woman, you also don’t want to feel as though you are disappearing in a sea of black, grey, navy blue or beige. You still want to retain your own sense of individuality, but without going over the top.

Most career experts who advise on the subject of women’s workplace attire recommend avoiding brightly-colored or heavily-patterned items of clothing, but instead to aim for a plain and slightly understated look. Vivid colors and fussy designs at work can often be distracting and simply take too much attention away from what the individual has to say. By adding a splash of accent color to an otherwise plain outfit, however, you don’t have to look like a corporate drone, but you also won’t drown out your own voice.

When it comes to dressing for work, few of us want to spend vast sums of money, preferring instead to save our investment for clothing which will be worn on those special evenings out. By adding a range of hand painted silk scarves to her wardrobe, however, a woman can transform less costly, simple outfits into something which looks both chic and expensive.

Although silk scarves for women can be worn in a variety of different ways, in the workplace scenario they really come into their own when used around the neck, as a belt around the waist or under the bust to create an empire line. In these ways, they can be teamed with plain business suits, dresses and skirts to give a unique and flattering look.

As women’s silk scarves come in a wide range of different shapes and sizes, a number of looks can be achieved when they are used around the neck. For those who don’t like to feel restricted in this area, a longer, narrower scarf simply hung around the neck will look classy and elegant. Another alternative arrangement for longer scarves can be achieved by doubling them lengthwise, placing them around the neck and feeding the free ends through the loop which is created by the fold. As the fabric is not pulled tightly as would be the case if it were tied, many women find this an attractive and comfortable style of wearing.

Simple dresses can be given a new and highly fashionable look by using a long silk scarf to create an empire line, and this works particularly well for women with pear-shaped figures. Even the plainest grey, black or navy dress can be utterly transformed when a scarf of a coordinating color is used in this way.

Waisted dresses, skirts and pants, meanwhile, can be given a complete face-lift by a long hand painted scarf worn around the middle. Not only does this help to accentuate small waists, but it also draws attention away from larger busts.

The ultimate fashion accessory, a stunning silk scarf adds a touch of elegance to almost any outfit. In the workplace though, it has a classic appeal which looks highly professional but still lifts work attire out of the doldrums.

Can You Walk in the Heels?

  • Posted on September 20, 2011 at 8:19 pm

Do you think you can walk perfectly in all heels? If you say yes, maybe you won’t so confident when seeing the shoes showed here? The incredible pair of 8-inch heels was created by Christian Louboutin to raise money for the English National Ballet.

Sometimes girls think that the higher the heels of the pumps the better. But when they say ‘higher’ they don’t actually mean that a heel should be longer than 6 or 7 inches, and it definitely should come with a platform to keep the right balance. However, Christian Louboutin decided to surprise us all by creating a shoe with an eight-inch stiletto in a ballet style. Judging by the picture there is hardly a girl who could really wear such shoes, although we always have Lady Gaga.

Christian Louboutin said about his design:
“I could not help being inspired by English National Ballet… after all… isn’t the classical dancing ballet slipper the ultimate heel? The heel makes dancers closer than any other women to the sky, closer to heaven!”

Christian Louboutin designed these incredible shoes to auction off along with a number of other fashion items to raise funds for the English National Ballet. The silk Swarovski-encrusted heels are just one lot of many you might be interested in. Designers including Erdem, Giles Deacon, Moschino, Roksanda Ilincic and Julien Macdonald have made ballet-inspired pieces specially for the auction.

Hermes Scarf

  • Posted on September 18, 2011 at 10:25 pm

It is generally agreed upon that a Hermes scarf ($270. US) is just about as glamorous and luxurious as fashion accessories get. From Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s to Sarah Jessica Parker (aka. Carrie) in Sex and the City, a well-placed scarf has always been a powerful symbol of feminine allure.

Whether used to shield top stars from publicity (think Marilyn Monroe and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis) or to guard against negative energy or spirits (as silk is thought to do in many cultures), the silk scarf has always had a certain refined charm about it. Even when Grace Kelly used her Hermes scarf as a sling to support a broken arm, the scarf was still the ever-glamorous focal point remembered.

Hermes was founded in 1837 by saddle maker Thierry Hermes and is now directed by the seventh generation of the Hermes family. The scarves, which are made in Lyon, France, were introduced to the Hermes collection in the 1930s and have since become a favorite of the world’s fashion elite, including many members of the royal families.

In the many years that Hermes has been making their famous hand-rolled scarves, they have created thousands of designs which they sell in their 185 stores worldwide. It takes about forty minutes per scarf just to hand-roll the edges and about two years to complete a scarf design. Just look at a Hermes scarf and you’ll know why they make their own silk, why it’s so different, and why you just have to have it

High-heels Became Comfortable

  • Posted on September 18, 2011 at 8:49 pm

Great news for girls who love high heels! French designer Raphael Young has created a shoe that is sky-high and as comfortable as a flat shoe. Made with a flexible sole the shoe is said to have revolutionized shoe manufacture.

Raphael Young is so sure his invention will become a hit that he has patented it. ‘R-Flex’ shoes contain steel inserts in heels, a latex gel injection in leather soles and a rubber injection under balls of the feet. Besides, there is an ‘anti-twisting steel accessory’ which is intended to hold the shoe steadily and prevent the ankle from twisting.

Of course Raphael Young’s new creation can’t be cheap. You’ll have to invest up to £400 ($660) to get a pair but according to adverts it is worth it. You can wear the shoes all day long without ever feeling pain in your feet. Sounds a bit unreal.

Mr. Young said he had been planning to create comfortable shoes for 12 years. He wanted to make a shoe that would be more flexible and mimic the wearer’s natural walk.

The designer said:
[The factory] was manufacturing comfort shoes, almost ortho- paedic shoes, where the owner explained that he was looking for a solution to make the shoes more flexible, which could give real comfort if the shoes could accompany the natural movement of the walk. After trials and tests in the factory, I found the technical solution to make shoes as flexible and comfy as a ballerina pump. We patented it.”

The designer’s website describes R-Flex range as ‘dramatically improving the comfort and flexibility of the shoe while keeping an external look similar to any other standard shoe’.

Surprising – the Most Expensive Shoes in the World Can’t Sell

  • Posted on September 15, 2011 at 10:35 pm

The most expensive pair of shoes in the world can’t sell. It’s surprising. Usually stars like Jennifer Lopez rush to buy exclusive things but this time no one got interested. Actually, there were plenty of people interested but for five months not a single pair was sold.

The shoes, which cost a staggering £140,000 ($319,460), are made entirely from solid gold and more than 2,000 diamonds. The design is simple enough though.

The pricey shoe was produced by British jewellery designer Christopher Michael Shellis, who said it took him three years to complete the item. Talking about selling his unique shoe he said:
At the moment there have been a lot of enquiries and talks – but nothing concrete just yet. The shoes have created a real buzz, but there is still a long way to go. We’ve had discussions with certain people but I can’t say who.”

The designer of the most expensive shoe also told what his aim of creating the pieces was:
The aim of this was to create a unique form of jewellery which you can wear on your feet. It’s a bit like if you found these on an archaeological dig in thousands of years time they would be regarded as a treasure – a treasure of the feet. But like any great treasure it will remain as beautiful as the day it was created – and we even offer an ‘eternity’ guarantee lasting 1,000 years.”
